Spitfire of the North are working with a trusted provider of warbird pleasure flights to bring you this unique opportunity in 2024. Flights will be fulfilled in one of our original Supermarine Spitfires.

1944 VIII TRAINER


MT818 is unique as the only surviving Spitfire prototype of any mark. This was the first and only ‘Spitfire High Speed Trainer Prototype’ trainer created by Vickers-Armstrongs.

  • Built in 1944 as a MKVIII Type 359 Spitifre
  • 1946 Converted by Vickers Armstrongs to a Type 502 Two seater T.MkVIII Spitfire
  • 1959 Won the London To Paris Air race sponsored by Billy Butlin
  • The only surviving airworthy Spitfire prototype in existence

1943 SPITFIRE T.9


MJ627 was built at Castle Bromwich in 1943 as an LF MK IXc and entered service with 441 Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) serving with the RAF

  • Built at Castle Bromwich in 1943
  • Served with 441 (Silver Fox) Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force
  • September 1944 destroyed an Me109 over Arnhem
  • Converted to a 2 Seater in 1950 before serving with the Irish Air Corps

Spitfire TE308 was built at Castle Bromwich and delivered to #39 Maintenance Unit at RAF Colerne in the summer of 1945

  • Delivered to #39 Maintenance Unit in 1945
  • Sold to Vickers Armstrongs for conversion to 2 seat trainer
  • Carries the markings of 457 'Grey Nurse' Squadron , Royal Australian Airforce
  • Used in the 'Battle of Britain' film
